About Elliot Channer

Born in 1989 in Burton upon Trent, Elliot showed a passion for wildlife and art from a young age. Influenced by the animal sculptures of the renaissance, he focuses on capturing the life and grace of the subject, concentrating on their key features but allowing spontaneity to make up the main body of the sculpture. Largely self-taught, Elliot takes inspiration from the countryside, initially in Staffordshire and Derbyshire, Elliot now travels the country in order to observe and photograph animals in their natural habitat. Alongside lifesize sculptures, he also scales down large animals creating more manageable sculptures. Focusing his art on wild and farm life, Elliot`s clay sculptures are then cast in bronze or resin. Biography / CV of Elliot Channer

Born and brought up in Burton upon Trent, Elliot showed a passion for wildlife and art from a young age. Having studied history, design technology and art at A level, he embarked on a career in the world of sculpture - both in stone work and clay. Influenced by the animal sculptures of the renaissance, he focuses on capturing the life and grace of the subject, concentrating on their key features but allowing spontaneity to make up the main body of the sculpture. Taking inspiration from the countryside, initially in Staffordshire and Derbyshire, Elliot now travels the country in order to observe and photograph animals in their natural habitat. Alongside lifesize sculptures, he also scales down large animals creating more manageable sculptures. Focusing his art on wild and farm life, Elliot`s clay sculptures are then cast in bronze or bronze resin. He works closely with the team of skilled craftsmen at the bronze foundry in Melton Mowbray where his work is cast using the Ancient Lost Wax process. Largely self-taught, Elliot has worked alongside a number of sculptors and undertaken numerous sculpture courses, each featuring on a different aspect of the art, including Architectural Stone Carving at the City and Guilds of London Art School. Whilst working at a quarry, Elliot gained insight into the processes carried out in stone preparation and built upon his knowledge of the skills and techniques required when working with a wide variety of stone types. Elliot has exhibited at many prestigious venues, among them The Royal College of Art, the Chelsea International Art Fair and the Battersea Affordable Art Fair. He also has his sculptures on display at Carina Haslem Art and is currently looking at taking his work to Florence, working alongside Fonderia Art`u. He has featured in magazines such as The Field, the Countryman, The Kensington and Chelsea News, The Belgravia Magazine, The Wall Street International and the Countryside Magazine. All of Elliot`s sculptures are small limited editions with each sculpture taking several months to complete. He also welcomes commissions.
